Question from a reader: I believe children are precious to God, and I would never use a form of birth control that could potentially kill a baby. But all of these arguments are confusing. My husband and I are praying God would give us convictions for our own family when it comes to family size. We don’t want to just follow what the world says to do (i.e. use the pill, stop having children for convenience reasons, have a vasectomy when we are “done" having children). What advice would you give me?

Knowing God's voice, I think, comes mostly from abiding in Christ, as in John 15. Part of that, but not all of it, is His Word abiding in us.

What you're saying may seem to make sense, but the fact is Malachi 3:8 says it is so: "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ In tithes and offerings."

Author Randy Alcorn is quick to point out that the Bible tells us much more about Heaven than we might realize. The biblical evidence is substantial for both the Arminian and Calvinist positions. John Wesley and Richard Watson were great men of God who took the Arminian position. John Calvin and Charles Spurgeon were great men of God who took the Calvinist position. It is not stupid or immoral or faithless to take either position.

Something to watch for is whether you're tending to go over-the-top in your persuasion.

I was challenged to explain why prolife people can be for war that kills some innocents (for the good of the situation and others lives) and not see the parallels in embryonic stem cell research for those whose lives would be protected and health cured. I would love to know your take on this.
