Question from a reader: I am an 8th grade student and my teacher has assigned us a reading project about any book of our choice. I have chosen to read your book Deadline. I am not the kind of person who enjoys reading very much, but your book has really caught my attention. As part of my assignment, I would like to ask you how did you come up with the idea for this story?

Service is a reward, not a punishment. This idea is foreign to people who dislike their work and only put up with it until retirement. We think that faithful work should be rewarded by a vacation for the rest of our lives. But God offers us something very different: more work, more responsibilities, increased opportunities, along with greater abilities, resources, wisdom, and empowerment. 

I think you should do what you can to get accurate apologetic information to your pastor that shows the Bible's reliability. 

I believe in divine election as taught in Scripture. The "elect” are referred to in ten or so passages and the “chosen” in many others. Col 3:12 calls us “God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved.”

Freewill offerings were commonplace in the Old Testament era. The three tithes were never the ceiling of giving, merely the floor. 

I have a friend who is not a Christian who is having triplets. The doctors are advising her to abort one of them to keep her pregnancy low risk. 

I am leading a class of young families at my church and we are presently talking about how to teach your children about money. What are your answers to the following questions?

The biblical evidence is substantial for both the Arminian and Calvinist positions. John Wesley and Richard Watson were great men of God who took the Arminian position. John Calvin and Charles Spurgeon were great men of God who took the Calvinist position. It is not stupid or immoral or faithless to take either position.

God has a perfect time and place for all of us. He knows and has planned our circumstances, and while human choice is taken into account, God is not bound by the decisions of people. 

I believe we as Christians need to be good stewards of the resources God has given us. Use it, reuse it, recycle it, and don't abuse what God has given us. 

Something to watch for is whether you're tending to go over-the-top in your persuasion. 

Knowing God's voice, I think, comes mostly from abiding in Christ, as in John 15. Part of that, but not all of it, is His Word abiding in us.

What you're saying may seem to make sense, but the fact is Malachi 3:8 says it is so: "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ In tithes and offerings."
