This issue is a huge controversy, and in searching online I did see some people identify me with the notorious (to them) “lordship salvation” position. To me, it is just the position that biblically informed Christians have always taken.

Randy did a breakout session at the Kingdom Advisors conference in 2025. He shares from God’s word about the theology of eternal rewards for our actions while on earth. He explains, “What you do for the glory of Jesus and the good of others will last forever.” In the second half of the session, Randy answers questions from the audience.

We are to be like the Bereans, who carefully checked the Apostle Paul’s teachings against Scripture to discern whether what he said was true (see Acts 17:11). Scripture also tells us to “test all things. Hold on to what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

Randy does think that on the New Earth, in the ages to came, we’ll learn how God answered our prayers. He writes: “We anticipate Heaven, where we’ll learn God’s breath-taking answers to our prayers, including many that seemed unheard and ignored.”

I realize not everyone gets the chance to have a final gathering with their family. But I do encourage anyone who has a terminal illness to use your remaining time to have God-honoring interactions with your loved ones and say whatever needs to be said while you still can.
