In October of 2012 Randy Alcorn was interviewed by Dr. John Akers at The Cove in Asheville, NC. The weekend consisted of five interview sessions. The first four each focused on one of Randy's books which articulate one of the four truths. In the fifth session Randy answered some questions from those attending the weekend.

In this clip, John points out that one of the major themes of Randy's The Grace and Truth Paradox book is that we often distort either grace or truth, so he asks Randy to first explain how grace can get distorted. 

There are people I respect greatly who love this book, without qualification, and consider it a great gift of God to thirsty people. There are others I respect as much who are deeply concerned about the book’s messages, both overt and subtle, and their impact on people.

In the previous blog I expressed concerns about some doctrines in the new bestselling book To Heaven and Back, by Mary Neal. This is my second and last article on this subject.

Years ago, I determined that I wanted to write a book on the importance of gratitude in the Christian life. But not long ago I read Nancy Leigh DeMoss’s book Choosing Gratitude and realized I no longer needed to!

Question from a reader: What books would you recommend for a young adult who has been questioning his faith and is just beginning to take his faith seriously?

Question from a reader: I work with an agnostic. I've shared my faith with her in a very nonconfrontational way for two years now. She's very quick to shoosh me, so I witness more in the gift of mercy and hospitality and less in prophet! Do you have a recommendation for a book that I could give her? She loves history and has a very inquisitive mind. She asks me questions quite often about the Christian "religion." She always has an audio book going in her car and at her desk, so audio would be ideal.

A few months ago, someone asked me on my Facebook page what Christian biographies I would recommend. Reading and discussing biographies of faithful believers can give both children and adults footprints to follow, especially through our suffering.

A.W. Tozer has had a great impact on my life. When I was asked to contribute to this book, Inspired by Tozer, I gladly agreed to do so. You may want to take a look at it.

I hear good things about G.K. Beale’s The Erosion of Inerrancy in Evangelicalism: Responding to New Challenges to Biblical Authority, and I like other things he's done. 

Focus on the Family has a new book out titled The 21 Day Dad’s Challenge: Three Weeks to a Better Relationship with your Kids. After watching Courageous, men all over the U.S. will emerge from movie theaters wanting to be better dads, and this is an excellent next step.

When I was researching Heaven, I read 150 volumes on the subject, many long out-of-print. Since the book came out I’ve read a dozen more.

Recently someone asked if I could recommend any good, readable (not too academic) books that deal with the authority and reliability of Scripture.
