A message preached by John Wesley November 30, 1781

Note from Randy: I wrote this to the men in a study group I led, based on Dallas Willard’s book, Spirit of the Disciplines.

The majority text (MT) really means “a statistical number larger than another text type” (i.e., called the MT = “Western Text”). The other major text type has fewer manuscripts, but they are older and some are better preserved.

When our daughters were considering a college, we told them, “Judge everything you hear by the Word of God, like the Bereans in Acts 17:11.”

The place we’ll live forever will be where God comes down to dwell with us, on the New Earth (Revelation 21:1-3).

If someone has a dream or desire on this earth that is of God, that means there is nothing inherently evil or sinful about this desire. Then what would prevent him from seeing this desire fulfilled on the New Earth? Not lack of time or opportunity or capacity, certainly.

We must begin by recognizing that as long as God is God and we are his creatures, there must be some unanswered prayers. This is because God keeps hidden his own wise plans for the future, and even though people pray, many events will not come about until the time that God has decreed.
