As a professional singer, it was not unusual to be asked to sing for a wedding, but it was a bit unusual to sing for the wedding of a millionaire. I knew the wedding would be picture-perfect and was pleased to be able to participate, but when the invitation to the reception arrived I knew it would be something exceptional.

.....obedience comes out of desire to please a God we love, not the opposite where our obedience is somehow pleasing to God so now He can love us.

Every child, no matter how young and how small and no matter where he is located, is an individual human being with a life and rights of his own.

In The Chronicles of Narnia, C. S. Lewis paints a beautiful picture of heaven in the final book, The Last Battle. The book begins with a near collision of a railroad train, where the children are thrust into Narnia. But when their adventure is over, the children are afraid they will be sent back to earth again.

You can always tithe, even if you have no cash.

In the long dark night of suffering on earth, Jesus being seen as the morning star means the eternal morning is about to dawn. Hence, Christ as the morning star is a picture of great promise and hope.

God is good. But until we understand the truth that He is not safe, that He is not under our control, until we come to grips with the truth of His uncompromising holiness, we will never begin to grasp His amazing grace.

Without an eternal perspective, without ­under­standing the reality that the best is yet to come, we assume that people who die young, who are handicapped, who ­aren’t healthy, who ­don’t get married, or who ­don’t _____ [fill in the blank] inevitably miss out on the best life has to offer.

First, for His glory; second, for our good.

We are not always great at talking to God, at least I’m not, but I think we are even worse at listening to God. Of course, if we think we can’t hear God’s voice, at least in the figurative sense, why would we listen?

It is the intermediate hell that is cast into the lake of fire.(Rev. 20:14)

God is the Father of this family we enjoy. We rightly sense that our relationship with them has not been terminated, only interrupted, and we know that some day each of us will be taken from this world, in one moment separated from some we love and in the same moment reunited with others we love, and above all with our Lord.
