I love to see young men preaching God’s truth in their local churches. One day recently Nanci and I viewed video messages by both our sons-in-law, Dan Franklin and Dan Stump.

Displayed on the Martyrs Monument (at The Voice of The Martyrs USA ministry office in Bartlesville, Oklahoma) are the names of many martyrs—each one representing a real person with a real story. 

In 2014, Randy Alcorn was interviewed through the Renegade Pastors Network about his book The Treasure Principle. They talked about how Eternal Perspective Ministries began, Scripture, advice for pastors and why Jesus cares about how we spend our money.

I was deeply touched by this wonderful article from Emily T. Wierenga.

Twenty years ago, I was named in an unwarranted lawsuit. My single greatest encouragement during that time was 1 Peter 2, which says of Jesus, “When he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly” (verse 23).

A sincere young man told me that no matter what I might say, Heaven must be boring. Why? “Because you can’t appreciate good without bad, light without darkness, or safety without danger. If Heaven is safe, if there’s no risk, it has to be boring.”  

God hears our prayers and starts responding to them (when we pray with Daniel’s attitude and perspective) before we can see results, and even when we can’t see results at all.   

In C. S. Lewis’s The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Eustace Clarence Scrubb describes to Edmund how terrible it felt when Aslan, the Lion and Christ-figure, changed him from the dragon he’d become to the boy he was intended to be.

In July 2014, Randy Alcorn was interviewed by Susie Larson on My Faith Radio on the subject of evil and suffering and his book If God Is Good. In this clip, he explains what to say to someone whose faith is being shaken through suffering.
