In this clip from his Q&A at The Fold (the college/youth ministry of Shepherd’s House Bible Church), Randy Alcorn talks about the importance of having God’s Word in front of us throughout our daily lives. 

In a Q&A about giving and The Treasure Principle at The People’s Church in Cincinnati, Randy shares thoughts about the current Christian view of finances and generosity in light of eternity. 

Psalm 23 was the first passage I memorized as a brand-new Christian, at age 15. I remember loving those words. I am amazed at how much more they mean to me now because of the suffering and grief I have both witnessed and experienced since then.

Regarding self-defense, I think the Sermon on the Mount can be taken out of context to justify a pacifism that facilitates evil. 

We’re called to a life of endurance empowered by Christ, and accompanied by joyful thanksgiving. Endurance requires patience, because reward for today’s right choices will come, but it may be months or years from now, or not until we leave this world.

From mid-November to early January, our lives change, bringing many things that are delightful, but which increase our pressure and fatigue. For many, the holidays seem out of control, the chaos inevitable.

This would be a red flag to hear someone say they are sharing “previously unknown information,” especially if their interpretation is not represented anywhere in the last 2,000 years of church history and writings.

When I read what you wrote, about how you had to give up relationships for God, I thought of Luke 14:26.
