“Without holiness no one will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14, NIV). For us to see God would require us to undergo radical transformation between now and then. And that’s exactly what will happen.

Last month Holland Christian Schools in Holland, Michigan welcomed back to campus a graduate of their school—Kirk Cousins, quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, and former QB of the Washington Redskins. I was asked to join Kirk in doing a fundraiser for the school, where he interviewed me about various topics close to both my heart and his.

“God never wearies of the precious blood,” Spurgeon says, “nor will His people who know where their salvation lies.” The gospel is far greater than most of us imagine. It isn’t just good news for us—it’s good news for animals, plants, stars, and planets. It’s good news for the sky above and the Earth below. 

I heard a pastor say, “There will be no more learning in Heaven.” One writer says that in Heaven, “Activities such as investigation, comprehending and probing will never be necessary. Our understanding will be complete.”

Our intimate link with Christ in His redemptive work makes us inseparable from Him, even now. As we walk with Him and commune with Him in this world, we experience a faint foretaste of Heaven’s delights and wonders.

Question from a reader: After all the things done to the earth during the Tribulation, what is going to be left for Jesus to rule and reign over for 1,000 years? Revelation says a third of the rivers, a third of the oceans, a third of the animals, and a third of the earth itself will be destroyed. Are we going to spend the first 500 years cleaning everything up?

The Bible tells us we are pilgrims, strangers, aliens, ambassadors working far from home. But we’ve become so attached to this world that we forget our true home, built for us by our bridegroom. This makes us prone to spiritual amnesia, or as Paul David Tripp says, it makes us “eternity amnesiacs.”
