Who Made God?

Who Made God?From time to time I like to review books on my blog. Who Made God?: Searching for a Theory of Everything is a book that offers ideas and insights most of us have never pondered. Author Edgar Andrews presents compelling arguments that challenge the prevailing mechanistic worldviews. His good humor helps him present weighty concepts and makes them easier to grasp. Everyone who questions the existence of God will benefit from this book, as will those who believe in God and wish to defend their faith more effectively.

Tim Challies did a remarkable review of the book you can read here. If you wish to meet Edgar Andrews, see this seven-minute video with him sitting at the piano.

Edgar AndrewsAndrews, who is Emeritus Professor of Materials Science at the University of London, writes, “The book is an attempt to reach out to the many ordinary people who have been indoctrinated by ‘the new atheism’ of Dawkins, Dennett and others, and is written in a most unusual style designed to appeal to such people (as well as to strengthen the hand of Bible-believing Christians). All proceeds from the book go into the Lord's work here in England.”

He continues, “The default worldview of unchurched people in the Western world is practical atheism, and this view is vigorously promoted by the public mass media and in schools, colleges and universities ... often under the guise of an all-embracing theory of evolution. One result is that many nominal Christians have distanced themselves from the Bible because they fear it has somehow been disproven by ‘science’ and is no longer intellectually defensible. Equally, non-Christians dismiss the Bible as irrelevant. As a scientist, I have written Who Made God? to correct this thinking and to demonstrate that a biblical worldview makes more sense of ‘life, the universe and everything’ than does atheism or even general theism. The style of the book is deliberately entertaining to engage and retain the reader's attention, whatever their present viewpoint might be.”
