Last month Kevin DeYoung posted an excellent blog called “10 Reasons to Believe in a Historical Adam.” I can’t say enough about the importance of this subject.

Whether we affirm the holiness and justice of God—and the doctrine of Hell, which is inseparable from them—may be the biggest test of whether the Bible or our culture is our true authority.

Neither God’s Word nor an accurate understanding of economics supports the notion that the prosperous are automatically responsible for making others poor. What Scripture does say is that even when we’re not at fault, we are responsible to help the poor. “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—and he will repay you!” (Proverbs 19:17 NLT).

Question from a reader: Of all you've written about stewardship, what's the single most important point you'd want people to grasp about why they should be generous stewards for the kingdom?

My experience has been that writing long emails back and forth on areas of disagreement is rarely helpful in resolving a theological issue, particularly when both parties have arrived at their positions over a long period of time.
