Here is a sad and bewildering commentary that captures in one example the utter inefficiency and sometimes craziness of a government that talks about controlling spending, but never seems to actually do it even when it would appear so easy—as in JUST PULL THE PLUG! Surely there is a better use for that $600,000 of tax money spent on this every day, but remember this is just a taste of what happens on a larger scale and has caused our gargantuan national indebtedness:

It reminds me of how impotent our government often is, and is another illustration of why it is foolish to look to it for ultimate solutions to our problems. (Families, churches, business, nonprofit groups and responsible individuals offer far more hope than our government does.) Unless there are radical changes from past and present behaviors, our country seems headed for what happens to fools, and to those who hire (or elect) them: “Like an archer who wounds everyone is one who hires a passing fool or drunkard” (Proverbs 26:10, ESV).
